Matthew 3:9 New Living Translation
9 Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones.
I had a very depressing day today. But, after suffering through it, I was about to call it a night, since it was two in the morning.
i woke up early this morning, amidst a 911 call made by my Land Lady as she couldn't breathe, and was yelling for my support.
Anyway, as I was about to retire, the Holy Spirit reminded me of a Sermon tape that I had concerning the life of David.
Well, I had a sense that the Lord was asking me to post it before I went to sleep?
Nevertheless, I no longer have my account with Sound something or other, where I have the ability to post online sermons.
I alone have been operating my web sites for well over twenty years or so. Nevertheless, I have never been given so much as a nickel in support of any ministry in which I have attempted. The only time in which I have been supported were a few times while traveling on the Road, where I have received the "Comfort of Complete Strangers," occasionally supporting me that I would not starve to death?
Well, then I remembered last month when I was looking for another paper and saw that "Sermon," which I had transcribed at one time or another?
Well, I placed a "Search," for David in one of my thumb Drives and about seven papers came up. I believe three were David, Jim Cymbola, Part two, and then a few more which were titled David, Jim Cymbola, Part three.
Nevertheless, I only read the first one which said "David, Jim Cybola, Part two," but it looks as if both papers were attached, so that is the one that I am going to re-post.
The paper was dated 4-8-2024.
I hope that you enjoy it, and then on the other hand, I really couldn't care less... but God told me to post it, so I am posting it.
The paper begins:
Psalm 78:70-72 (NLT)
70 He chose his servant David, calling him from the sheep pens.
71 He took David from tending the ewes and lambs and made him the shepherd of Jacob’s descendants— God’s own people, Israel.
72 He cared for them with a true heart and led them with skillful hands.
Part Two: David
by Jim Cymbala
...I Know when God sent my wife and I to Brooklyn, New York, and I looked around and we had less than twenty people in a run down building that was so depressing. I realized, "Now here's a chance to see if God is really real?" I don't want to hold the fort. The Lord is coming, Only hold the fort? I don't want to only hold the fort. But if God is so great, let me see God do it.
How many want to see God do it in a new way? Now wave your hand to me..Now God do it. God, not church culture, not Church Culture, There's Pentecostal, Baptist, Evangelical Culture, just as strong as Catholic Culture. They light Candles, and we do everything. But that's not where life is. We have a little tear and a little emotional touch, but nobody is changed. Nobody is Changed.
People have been doing that for decades, you would think someone would say, "Time out, were not going ahead, were not winning, One of the keys to this is what we find in the Story of David.
Obscure little story, Listen, David is on the run from Saul, King Saul, and David, you know, had been the man, he had saved King Saul's Throne by killing Goliath, Then he was a young military leader, but Saul had a love hate relationship with David. And Saul got in him something which is the worst of all human emotions, and that's jealousy. The Bible says that anger is terrible, and wrath is overwhelming, but nobody can stand before Jealousy. If you become jealous of someone because God is blessing them, that's like the lowest thing that is in the Bible. That's why they killed Jesus. Always remember that, the Bible says when the Pharisees saw the crowds, they became jealous and said, "He's got to go." (Eerie Silence)
So now, because David, Saul wants to kill him, you know, you heard that great song that they sang for every Mountain, our choir is singing it, You know that is a great song, but there was a great song back then, it went something like this, "Saul has slayed his thousands, but David his ten thousands." it was a hit tune, but Saul didn't like it. (little laughter)
When he heard that "tens of thousands," he went off, he went Ballistic, Saul started chasing David all over, so listen, and David has to leave his wife, has to leave Mom and Dad, has to leave his family, has to leave everything. He is living on the run, in fact, a lot of the Psalms that we have in the 150 Psalms, were written by David on the run. So..David ends up with a little militia of six hundred men and he is hiding out in some rocky terrain. Listen, He always stays out in the open, he never goes into a town where he can be surrounded, he stays in caves and the wilderness, and he stays mobile and agile, So while he is there with his six hundred men on the run from King Saul and the entire Army of Israel, he hears, he hears, that the town of Keilah, little po-dunk town is being attacked by the Philistines, and getting ripped off of their grain during the Harvest Season, the Threshing floor has been looted and the Philistines who are God's enemies are messing with Keilah. Now the first thing the story tells us is that David's reaction, he's a fighter, see when the Spirit of God is upon you, you want to fight God's battles. You want to help people who are oppressed. When the Spirit of God is upon you, you can't just sit by while people are being ripped off. (more eerie silence)
Spiritually, you want to fight for them. You're thinking of them, your not thinking about making a living, your not thinking about being in the front, your thinking about delivering people,
David has that in him, he is a man after God's own heart. But notice what David does, the Bible says, he stopped everything and inquires of the Lord and he says, "God should I attack the Philistines at Keilah."
Well, that's odd, why didn't he just say, "Wait a minute, Samuel anointed me, when I was a young man in Jesse's house, I killed Goliath, the mantle of God is upon me, I will go and fight whoever I want to fight.
"No," David inquired of the Lord, and knew even though God told him the mantle is upon you and you belong to the Lord, you just can't go anywhere you want to go and to fight, any battle you want to fight. He inquired of the Lord, and the Lord said to him "Go," but before he went David inquired of the Lord.
This is what we are not doing today, In other words, ladies and gentleman, not every Fund Raising Letter, that you get are you suppose to give too. Not every Christian cause that somebody is yelling about, should you get involved in. Not every new argument, should you give yourself too, and get involved in and embroil your self in.
Which one should you?
Which one should you not?
It takes inquiring of the Lord, The Bible tells us that in God's sight all of the Choir members have two kinds of decisions. They have Biblical decisions to make, and non Biblical decisions to make.
Biblical decisions, you don't have to inquire of the Lord, you just go to the Bible by inquiring of the Lord.
You don't have to ask yourself, "Should I rip my boss off for that money?"
Should I sleep with that woman? Who is not my wife, you don't have to inquire of the Lord, and don't do that cause your tempted. You go in the word, cause God has given moral principles and laws that for every Biblical decision in life, this is where we go, we go to the Bible. And we ask, "What does the Bible say?" That's what we have to train, that's what God has to train us to renew your mind, and it's time when something hits us to ask, "What does the Bible say?" Not what the Pastor says, not what the Evangelist says, "What does God say about this in His word?" is this a moral decision that is found in the Bible. But then there are decisions that are not found in the Bible, like Janet, my friend Janet Pashcal, she gets an invitation to go somewhere, she could go to every invitation, for example myself, I have a stack of invitations on my desk, so should I say, "Well, I pastor the Brooklyn Tabernacle, I have so many responsibilities, and I got to do a better job, I turn down every single invitation, no matter what, because I am Pastor, I shouldn't be going out, I wouldn't be here tonight, but I know God wants me here tonight or should I take another approach, how about this one, if a man of God, or a woman of God, or a Church invited me, I should just say, "Yes," to everyone because if they invited me, then God must be in it? Then I would be everywhere and they would fire me.
So, where should I go and where should I not go, it's not a moral decision, I won't find the answer in the Bible. The Bible will not tell me where to go and where not to go.
But, doesn't God have a plan for my life? Doesn't God know where I am suppose to be and where I am not suppose to be? Doesn't God have a certain strategy for you, with a difficult Daughter or a difficult son, and in a marriage where the devil is moving in, doesn't God have a strategy for that? And you will never find it, or know it, unless we inquire of the Lord.
Barna says that less than ten per cent of all people who go to church every Sunday make important decisions without any thought of the will of God. Listen, less than ten per cent ask him. Of all people who go to Church when they have to change jobs or move ask the "Will of God."
C'mon, that's from the thirties, that's that old stuff, seeking God and whatever. You just go where there is nicer money, and a nicer climate.
Is that what this is going to be reduced too? Nobody inquires of the Lord, because they think, Look God's job is to Bless, MY plans. Whoa, God knows where you need to be, and when we inquire of the Lord, what a Blessing it brings upon our life. What Safety. Cause this is the way that it works, Brothers and Sisters.
When you inquire of the Lord, David knew, even though, I am anointed, I can't just go fighting anyone I want to fight. And if you study the Life of David, You'll find out that David when he was at his best, was always inquiring of the Lord. God, do I go there, Do I go, should I do this, Lord, should I not do this, where should I go, always inquiring of the Lord, humbling himself, inquiring of the Lord, He didn't strut around like they tell you now if different places, "God, I'll just quote the word, and tell the devil, get outa my way, and all of that."
That Macho stuff isn't real. You know what I found, that the most mature Christian is? They walk bent over, just trusting in God, and the more mature they get, their strength is in their weakness, because God's strength is made perfect in their weakness.
Not strutting around and throwing around mantras and Bible verses. But it's , "Then God what do I do?"
That was the difference between David and Saul.
That's why God rejected Saul, you'll find out in the Bible, Saul, never inquired of the Lord, a couple times he did, he wouldn't wait for God to answer. If God didn't answer in his time frame, he just moved unilaterally on himself, by himself. And act, all over the country, this is what you find, Pastors changing Churches with no thought of the "will of God." They're trying to go up some ladder of success.
The only success is to do God's will!
C'mon, do I get a witness here. "The only success is to do God's will." Some of the most famous Gospel singers, and some of the most famous Gospel Preachers, they might be ZERO's in heaven. Because they are not even doing what God called them to do.
They got caught up with the Show Business thing, and the money thing, some of these groups to have them, you have to pay through the nose. Then they're going to come up to sing and to tell the people to trust God. Well, if they are "trusting God," then why are they charging so much money to come?
(Small clapping, remember this was preached in Nashville at one of the most largest and famous churches in the City. And since I had been attending for the last half year or so, I can testify that his message wasn't received by all. Go figure, you know what I mean?)
Ain't it the truth?
But you want to know what it is? It's business. It's become a business. It's busssiiiinnesss, don't ya get it?
I was naïve for years, now I've learned, it's business to them.
It's strictly business.
Give me a love offering and let me out of town, you pray with the people. I just came to dazzle them with my "FOOTWORK," here.
Listen, David knew that whenever you inquire of the Lord and God leads you somewhere, there is an Umbrella that goes with you.
When you inquire of the Lord and God is leading you. Look at me, "That Umbrella goes where ever you go. You know what's under that Umbrella?
Safety, Provision, Wisdom, Anointing, Power, and when God leads you over here, the umbrella goes right over here with you.
That Umbrella, as long as you inquire of the Lord, that umbrella will go, the touch of God will be upon you. But notice, the umbrella does not follow you, you follow the umbrella.
You can't take off and say, C'mon umbrella, I'm going here. God is not a Master Card, that you use, He is the King of Kings and he is the Lord of Lords.
He's got a plan for our lives. Listen, so David knew, I'm not going to go anywhere without that Umbrella. I don't care who I beat when I was a kid, I don't care about Goliath, I'm chopped meat unless God is with me.
Oh Pastor, don't we need to hear this "word," Pastor?
The church is now so organized, How could the Holy Spirit lead anything?
The meetings are so programmed, the Holy Ghost couldn't break in with a Pic and Axe.
Were Slick now, instead of being "opened," if God, do you think God is impressed by slickness?
He wants..This thing began on a Cross, this thing began in an Upper Room. What do you think religion was part of, this is not slick, you think Calvary is slick, you think the Upper Room is slick?
It's not "Slick," it's full of God. God uses the weak things of this world. The foolish things, that say, "Oh God, Please use me, please!"
When you lose that it doesn't matter how famous that you are.
You have lost it.
That's what happened to Saul.
Let me hurry through...
(End 52:17)

Part Three: David- Jim Cymbala
...let Me hurry through. David goes to his men and says, "I just inquired of the Lord and says, "Go and save these people in Keilah, and the guys in his Army go,...
"Time out, Yo, what is your problem.."
(I can't recall if he was interrupted by someone or what, but the recording is missing some time, right after that statement was made?)
Note: This tape like many have only been listened to, by myself only once or twice, since I recorded it. As I have stated, I had hundreds of recorded Sermons. In fact, I am shocked by how "Prophetic," Jim Cymbala, was on this recording. I can only recall listening to this one other time and that was years ago, way before the Pandemic.
Anyway, it continues a few minutes later:
...inquired A second time of the Lord. "God, did I hear right? Because the men don't want to go."
You know what that teaches me, that if we want to be led by the Lord and we want to inquire of what God is saying, the first rule is you gotta be humble enough to admit that you could be wrong. "He will lead the MEEK, in the ways that they shall go." If we are full of ourselves, we are never going to hear his voice.
When a certain well known Evangelist whose name you would all know, whose life and his name has now become an adjective, pitiful thing, Sorry, sort of, and the scandal rocked Christendom years ago. I remember back in the seventies, when his face was on the cover of one of the Newsweek or Time, and I remember he was at his height of popularity, doing a lot of good things for God, but the seeds were already in there. You see, it wasn't his "Sin," that was sensational that got him, that's not what ever gets you. In the article about him, inside, I remember the dagger effect that it had on me, when I read it, my heart began to pound as I realized there is trouble. They asked him, w"what would you do, Brother so and so, if God told you to do something and your Board said, "No."
He said, "Praise God, I would fire my Board and get a new one." Sounded really Macho, You know what really he was saying?
"I can never be wrong."
"How many have found 'walking in life,' you can be wrong?"
C'mon lift your hand up. C'mon, and that's the attitude that we have to take if God is going to lead us. David said, "Lord, I am coming back a second time, I want to be sure."
You know, when we found this building in Downtown, I took those six pastors who were associates, and I have eight now. Those six, I sent them to the building and I said, "Were not voting, you go there and begin to Fast and Pray, and you look at that building, I feel like it could be a place where God could send us, I don't know how he's going to do it. But unless all six of you come back and tell me that it's God, I am not even going to take the first step. Why? Because why would God show only me, what building we should go to and hide it from the men who would be working with you? You know what, "Do you have a Prayer Partner, I hope?"
Do you have a Prayer Partner, Do you have a brother or sister, Do you have an Elder, Do you have somebody you can talk to, a new Pastor, Do you have some Pastor, hopefully older than you and more experienced? That you can call, I know this man here prays for a lot of people, probably wears him out, but he does it because of the kind of heart that God has given him. Do you have somebody that you can call and say, ah "This is what I am feeling, would you pray about it..I don't want to go wrong, I don't want to miss God.
You know Warren Wiersbe, the well known author, he has my picture on his desk, Carol and I, and every morning he prays for me. I met him ten or eleven years ago, and somehow God put him in my heart, and I call him all the time. Longer friends, like David Wilkerson, this is what I say, "This is what I am praying about, this is what I am feeling, what do you feel, C'mon tell me?" But, but be honest with me, if you think it is off, then tell me?
Cause I don't want to make a mistake. You know, how easy it is to make a mistake? You can eat something and it will effect you wrong and it will lead you the wrong way. Not the Spirit at all?
Let me bring this to a close. God says "Go." David gets the men with him, look at the victories that come by inquiring of the Lord. The Philistines are defeated, the town is saved, great loot is captured, livestock, the men are Blessed, every thing is strengthened by him inquiring of the Lord.
Do you realize what could happen when we inquire of the Lord and are led by the Lord?
Do you realize the things that could happen?
What songs should we sing in a song service? We should pray about that.
What goes on in a service maybe change the message, so Jesus is n the middle of it. I hear Pastor's bragging, I know what I am Preaching on my computer for the next eighteen months. And they are proud of that? Is that what this is all about? Just mapping out sermons for a year.
IBM and AT&T has invaded the church, so were thinking Corporate instead of Spiritual.
Well, David hears, he comes into the town, everybody is high fiving them, "Yo, you are the man, you are the man," You are the man David,
"You saved our bacon, everybody is "give a D, give me an A, give me an I...(laughter) they are doing the whole thing. Listen, Saul hears that David has done something that he has never done, "He's got himself in a town," where he can be surrounded.
By the way, look what arrogant and Spiritual deception can do to you. You can think that God is talking to you when God is not. He is not even talking to you, Listen to what Saul says, "God has delivered David into my hands." God hasn't done no such thing. God is with David, God left Saul.
Didn't Saul know it? He he is in that Cultural thing, "Praise God, I am the KIng, Oh, thank you God you have delivered David into my hands," and he didn't even know that God departed.
"Oh, I don't wanna go there. Oh, I don't wanna go there."
You know what, I don't wanna go there, I don't want to be famous, I don't want to meet the President, I don't wanna travel anywhere, I don't want anyone writing about me, but you know what, I don't want to go there.
I just want to try to inquire of the Lord and say, "God when you laid your hand on Jim Cymbala, what was the reason?
So, Saul is moving to get David and David goes, "Abiathar, come here with the Ephod, quick.
Abiathar comes and David, says "Lord," notice he doesn't even believe the report, he has to hear it from God. "God, your servant has heard that Saul is coming, is he really coming?" God goes, "Yes,"
"Lord, will the people turn me over they are high fiving me now, but will they turn me over to save their necks?" God says, "In a split second."
So listen, as our brother goes to the Piano, Listen, The bible says..
Do you realize that when you inquire of the Lord, "You can find out who your real friends are?"
You can't trust everybody that smiles at you.
Pastor, don't put people in charge of things before you inquire of the Lord. Because once you lay hands on them and give them authority, you can't get it back.
Once, the People see that you put that person in charge, or hire that person, you got to inquire of the Lord because the Lord is the head of the Church. Jesus is the head of the Church.
Imagine what I would have been saved from in my life, of all the bonehead things that I have done, if I had only inquired of the Lord.
"Lord, should I do that, should I go there, should I not go there?" Think of what we have got ourselves into, some messes, because we don't inquire of the Lord.
David slips out of town and the Bible says this, Saul went hunting for him everywhere. But everywhere he went he could never get David, you know why?
David was always one step ahead of him. Saul went for him and David was slip sliding away, you know why? Because he was inquiring of the Lord.
What do I do? Lord, your servant is listening, "What do I do?"
Now, I think that I have learned this, I thought that I had learned this in my life but God has to show me over and over again.
How I need to be open. A couple of summers ago, I am standing like this in our church Pastor Hardwicke, and I said, The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir is now going to sing, my wife Carol is coming and as she walks up here behind me, I am taking my Bible, just like this and I am going to preach, and the service is about a third of the way through, and we haven't taken the offering and she hadn't said anything, and she doesn't tell me because she practices in her private, she might not sing because if she feels there is a different chord in the meeting, listen to a chord, give me a chord just any, now give me a different chord, your not suppose to play an old thing and say, "were having Church."
God has a different meeting in every service, some meetings you take the roof off, and other meetings are quiet, God knows exactly what he needs. You can't formalize this thing. So, I said to my wife, what are you doing? She said, I got two songs to sing, and I said "fine." And I took my bible and I walked off, cause I wanted to hear them sing and minister. And I took a seat and they started singing this song. "Mercy saw me," and this former Crack addict, called Calvin Hunt and he is a great Gospel Singer. He was singing the solo, he happened to be in our church that afternoon. And he was singing, Mercy Saw Me, and about a third.. Just through the first verse, and suddenly as I am sitting there, as God is my witness, The Spirit of God comes on me and goes, "Go quickly, go quickly and preach the 'word.' tell them to come to me, 'Go quickly, now don't wait, right after this song Go." And I had just been waiting on the Lord, and I thought that it was the devil tempting me to do something weird?
And I thought to myself, "Take the invitation, we haven't even taken the offering yet, God don't you know how these services go, you take the offering, ..(laughing) God doesn't even know how these things work?
Were so trapped and we don't even know it. So, the thought of not doing it pierced me.
God was saying "Go now, quickly," so I said 'Lord, I don't know what to say or what to do," Oh God, my heart began to beat, my heart is beating right now, just thinking about it, because you know what? I don't like to do things just to be weird, or do strange things. So, the song is ending and I said, here goes, Oh God be with me please, stop me if this is not of you, but I am inquiring the best, and I feel to do this, and I don't know why though. So, I walked up as this final Chord is played, I walk up the steps and I am coming across and my wife sees me and she looks at me quizzically, like "Why are you coming now, and I led Calvin by the arm and I said, Calvin, take the microphone you have four or five minutes, tell the people what Jesus has done for you.
He takes the microphone and it was as if he had been waiting for it to happen, he grabbed the microphone and the button was on, and he poured out about what Christ had done in his life, and I am standing here like this, the choir is standing, they don't know what is happening, and ah, I take the microphone back and for seven or eight minutes I present Christ to this packed audience, and we have an afternoon service. People are out in the lobby sitting in chairs, and I make the invitation and suddenly dozens of people come to the front, some kid over here crying, there is people praying calling on the Lord, making it right with God, confessing sin, real conviction for sin, but coming from the love of God, not just some scare tactic, real work of the Spirit. So, we pray for them for awhile, someone is playing, after we tell them and we get their names, we send them back to their seats, and we say, "Look we haven't taken the offering yet, let's take the offering now, and we will sing another song while they are taking the offering. And then we will go on with the service. And we went on and I preached, later and ended the meeting, that was the afternoon and then at night, and we just tried to minister to people.
Two days, later, on Tuesday, my daughter who sings, not my other daughter, Christie, but Susie walked in my office and I could see her eyes were wet, and she said, "Daddy, God is awesome." 'And I said, "Yes, God is awesome."
But she said, "No, but Daddy, God is awesome." I said, "Susie what happened?"
She said, "I was just down in orchestration department and I got a call from Texas. And I answered the phone and he said, Is this the Brooklyn Tabernacle Music department, and she said "Yes."
"I want the sheet music for a certain song." She said, "What is the song?" he gave it to her, she said, "I am sorry,' we have no sheet music for that song."
"No, you must have sheet music for that song because you sing that chorus in your church. She said, "Sir, we sing a lot of choruses, but my, the way it works is when the choir makes an album and they record ten songs, let's say, Then they make a book out of that and those ten songs are sheet music, but otherwise we don't have a way of generating sheet music. So, we don't have every song we sing in sheet music. He said, "You know what, I was just there on Sunday and you were singing that song, and I want that song." She said, and then she slipped and she said, "Well, you know what, I will tell my Mother maybe they can record that song one day."
He said, "Tell your who?"
She said, "My Mother." He said, "Who are you?" She said, "I am Susan Cymbala Petrie,"
I am the daughter of Pastor Jim and Carol Cymbala.
He started to cry. She said, "Sir is there something wrong?"
He said, "Your his daughter?" She said, "Yes."
"Tell your Daddy, I live in Dallas, I am a business man, and my wife and I have a son who is nineteen, who we raised around the things of God and now he is hard as a rock. He is hard as a rock. He he has a look on his face, he is so different, When he hears about God, he does, we were so concerned about him, so we got a strategy, we said, "You know , let's go to New York and take a weekend, He loves New York, and we said to him "Son, were going to go to New York for a week end and on Saturday, we will spend time together and we will see the city, and will see the sights, but in our mind, we were going to take him to church on Sunday, and we were hoping that in the service that God would get a hold of him.
But tell your Daddy, that while we were in the cab on Sunday afternoon, coming to the service, I looked at my ticket and I said, "I can't believe this, I missed calculated from when that service began, and when the flight, were only going to have to stay for about a half of the meeting. Were not even going to be able to stay and hear the "word." We brought this boy all the way to New York, just to hear the 'word of God," and he is not even going to hear the "word of God, but you tell your Daddy, like out of nowhere he walked up on that platform, while I was looking at my watch and was saying, "we only got about ten or fifteen minutes left in this place.
He walked up on that platform and I don't know what, but he handed it to some Crack Addict. This kid, this guy shared his testimony and then your Daddy spoke and when he, the people had come, my son jumped up out of his seat, and listen he came down, he came down, he came out of the balcony, and he was crying and blubbering like a kid, something groped deep inside of him, and you know what, we were waiting for him, the minute he was prayed for and got back to the seat,
We rushed out got in a Taxi Cab and we got in an airplane and you tell your Daddy, while we were in the Airplane, I kept looking at my boy, and my wife kept looking at my boy because he wasn't the Boy that we fly to New York with. God had changed his face.
So, Listen, you know what? I figure God changed that whole meeting for a nineteen year old boy on Crack. How many believe that God can do that?
Praise Him! Hallelujah! C'mon, let's Praise Him.
We Praise you Lord, we Praise you Lord!
We Praise you Lord, we Praise you Lord!
Every Eye closed, every eye closed, you may be seated, Every eye closed...
I wanted to preach something else, but I felt that this was what I was to Preach...
...that God is saying, "Why don't you inquire of me, don't lean upon your own understanding...

GOD OF EVERY GRACE
LYRICS:
Vs 1
O let not this world of sorrows
Steal my only hope away
For the power of Your gospel
Shines within this jar of clay
In affliction You bring wisdom
That my comforts can displace
How my true and greatest treasure
Is in You the God of grace
Chorus
Now to the God of every grace
Who counts my tears, who holds my days
I sing through sorrows, sing with faith
O praise the God of every grace
Vs 2
Weary with the weight I carry
Give me wings of faith to rise
For You know each grief that lingers
Through the watches of the night
Surely You have borne our sufferings
At the cross took up our pain
And You lead us on to glory
As we trust You, God of grace
Now to the God of every grace
Who counts my tears, who holds my days
I sing through sorrows, sing with faith
O praise the God of every grace
Vs 3
There’s a dawning hope before us
That I know is soon to break
As I wait upon Your mercy
Which will swallow every ache
Cries of joy and songs of victory
When we enter heaven’s gates
All Your children home together
All with You the God of grace
Now to the God of every grace
Who counts my tears, who holds my days
I sing through sorrows, sing with faith
O praise the God of every grace
